A big, year-round wooded camping resort on 100-plus acres in Pine Grove, built on the grounds of a former amusement park — so a full-size Ferris wheel and carousel still run alongside the RV and tent sites. It's the closest of the wooded resorts to us, about 30 minutes up I-81.
Our take Twin Grove is the closest of the wooded resorts to us — about 30 minutes north up I-81 to Exit 100. Since we do RV repair and hitch and trailer work too, we know those hilly gravel sites and a long tow can shake a few things loose. If anything feels off on the rig heading up or back, we're an easy stop down I-81 at Exit 80, about 12 minutes north of Hershey.
Twin Grove started life as an amusement park back in the 1930s, and that history is still part of the place. The campground sits on the old park grounds and has kept a small ride area going — a full-size Ferris wheel and a carousel, plus an arcade. The rides run seasonally rather than all year, so it's worth checking which ones are operating when you book.
These days it's a full resort spread across roughly 100 to 105 hilly, wooded acres. Camping runs the range from full-hookup RV sites and pull-thrus to tent sites, and on the cabin side there are cottages, cabins, and family lodges if you'd rather not bring your own rig. Two pools with water slides, mini golf, a disc-golf course, an ice cream parlor, an on-site restaurant, and three dog parks round it out, and Swatara State Park sits just across the way for fishing and trails.
